As Christian, is execution by hanging right?

I've been pondering this since the Sadam situation. He was a bad, horrible (hard to even describe) person and deserved punishment but is it right from a Christian standpoint, from the Bible readings, to take someone else's life? I'm still thinking the whole thing out, thoughts? One wants to draw quick judgement, esp. when you see all the hurt and the families, the wives and kids left behind, but...?
